The heart of charting is body literacy.

When you know what to look for, then you can understand your cycle as a vital sign of health, interpret biofeedback from charting, and live in sync with your cycle.

Paying attention to your body’s signs and rhythms is an enlightening practice for health monitoring, cyclical pattern recognition, and lifestyle design. Data from charting increases an understanding of cycle parameters and how our choices affect our cycles, and it promotes informed decision-making in the sphere of reproductive health and beyond.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At what age is cycle charting recommended?

I recommend cycle charting to anyone with a cycle, at any age. I believe fertility awareness should be introduced at menarche (when a cycling person experiences their first menstruation), or even earlier in preparation for a first period.

In my fertility awareness world, body literacy is at the heart of charting. It’s our birthright to understand our bodies. At no point in someone’s life does charting need to be used for family planning purposes. Using charting for the purposes of birth control or pregnancy planning is a personal decision.

With charting, you can better understand the conditions in which your body thrives. Charting is a tool for living well.
